By the mid-fifties, America owned three quarters of the entire world’s cars and, as Britain came out from post-war austerity, with British struggling to afford small and basic cars like the Morris Minor or Ford Popular,  American cars went from extravagance to extravagance with every successive model getting longer, lower and wider with ever more extrovert styling and colour schemes.

By the end of the fifties such styling reached its zenith and the cars that followed in the sixties were plainer and less self confident, but very much faster as the manufacturers went for bigger engines and more power, before losing their way in the seventies as cars became burdened down with crash proof bumpers and emissions controls.

Our cars are from this special time and all have big V8 engines ranging from the 4,600 cc engine in our Chevrolet to the 5,200 cc engine in the Plymouth, but don’t worry,  fuel is included in the hire fees.

For more information on each car, click on the images below and for pictures of our cars in action have a look at our Gallery Page

Plymouth Savoy 1958

Our Plymouth Savoy dates from 1958 and was named after the famous Hotel. She has extraordinary lines with extravagant fins, and at the time, these cars were amongst the lowest and most stylish production cars available anywhere on the planet.

Ford Mustang 1966

Our Mustang, named after a wild horse, comes from a different generation dating from the sixties when the styling of American cars had changed from extravagance to classic simplicity.  The original Mustang Coupe is an iconic shape and was the fastest selling car of all time when it was launched in mid 1964.

Chevrolet Bel Air 1960

Our Bel Air was built in 1960 and has one of the most distinctive shapes of the era, built low with horizontal rear bat fins and a jet aeroplane motif on each side.  It is also very spacious with wide bench seats front and rear.
